~~ My Process & Design ~~
This ceramic mug is wheel-thrown from red stoneware in my home studio, where the bottom foot is precision-trimmed and the handle is hand-attached the following day. To create the unique exterior texture, a custom, digitized geometric stencil is applied to layer colored slips before the design is crisply hand-carved, accented with a black wash that highlights the crevices, and twice wet-sanded for a luxurious, super-smooth raw clay finish. The interior features a vibrant red slip coated in a clear glaze, making this beautifully high-fired, functional piece fully food, dishwasher, and microwave safe.
