Textured Tree Mug — Slip-Transfer Design, Hand-Sanded Finish
This textured mug is the perfect vessel for a generous pour of coffee, loose-leaf tea, or a cozy morning latte. Handcrafted from stoneware clay, the rustic, tactile exterior contrasts beautifully with a rich, variegated glossy teal glazed interior — a truly unique piece of functional art.
This piece is a "second" — the interior glaze is a variegated commercial glaze I was testing, and while it's fully functional and food-safe, it wasn't the finish I ultimately chose for this line. The exterior hand-painted design is unaffected. A great option if you love a one-of-a-kind experiment at a lower price.

THE ARTISAN PROCESS & DESIGN
- Wheel-thrown & trimmed: Individually shaped on the potter's wheel, then precision-trimmed once the rim is firm enough to hold its form.
- Slip-transfer tree design: While the clay is still wet, a light green slip is transferred using newsprint paper, then layered with white slip to build up the tree design by hand.
- Antiqued exterior & glossy teal interior: A dark wash is applied to the outside after the first firing for an antiqued look, while a variegated glossy teal glaze brings a vibrant pop of color inside.
- Firing & hand-sanded finish: Fired a second and final time, then wet-sanded by hand for a smooth, luxurious feel in the hand.
Made by hand in small batches in my Denver studio — no AI, no mass production, just one potter shaping every piece.
