My process:
I use the potter's wheel to create this wine cup. I make the cup one day and then trim the bottom foot the next day. I let it dry completely and then paint pink plumflowers and a trailing vine on it. It's pink because I started using a new underglaze by a new supplier and their 'red' is actually a nice pink at cone 10. Recently I have modified this design and changed the vine from green to black and added bigger flower buds. The simplification of the colors really makes the design pop. I started this design over 12 years ago. It's been fun and interesting to see it evolve into its present rendition. A pink umbre slip is applied to the inside of the wine cup, then a clear glaze finishes the cup the inside and outside. Made from high fire grolleg porcelain and fired in an electric oxidation kiln.
