THE ARTISAN PROCESS & DESIGN
- Wheel-Thrown & Trimmed: Individually shaped by hand on the potter's wheel, flipped, and precision-trimmed at the perfect leather-hard stage.
- Stucco Slip-Transfer Texture: While the clay is still wet, a unique newsprint slip-transfer technique is used to build up layered, organic textures reminiscent of historic, weathered stucco buildings.
- Antiqued & Hand-Painted Details: After the initial firing, a dark wash is applied and wiped back to highlight the deep textures of the exterior. The signature cherry blossom motif is then meticulously hand-painted, leaving the raw exterior design unglazed for an incredible tactile experience.
- Shino Glazed Interior: The inside is finished with a shino glaze, providing a warm, organic pop of character against the rustic exterior.
- Firing & Hand-Sanded Finish: Fired in an electric oxidation kiln After the final firing, the unglazed exterior is wet-sanded by hand to ensure a smooth feel against the textured surface.
