Plum Blossom Vase — Hand-Painted Porcelain
A hand-painted porcelain vase featuring red plum blossoms and a trailing vine, finished with a clear glaze outside and a coordinating red slip inside.
This design has been part of my practice for over 12 years, evolving slowly with each version. This rendition features red flowers, black outlines, and large flower buds — a quiet, ongoing conversation with a pattern I keep coming back to.
PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS & CARE
- Material: Handmade grolleg porcelain
- Dimensions: Approx. 6.5" tall
- Clear glaze outside; red slip with clear glaze inside
THE ARTISAN PROCESS & DESIGN
- Wheel-thrown & trimmed: Shaped on the potter's wheel, then trimmed by hand the following day once firm enough to hold its form.
- Hand-painted plum blossom design: Once fully dry, the red plum blossom and trailing vine motif is hand-painted onto the piece, with black outlines defining each petal and bud.
- Glaze & firing: Finished with a clear glaze outside and a coordinating red slip with clear glaze inside, then fired in an electric oxidation kiln.
Made by hand in small batches in my Denver studio — no AI, no mass production, just one potter and 12 years of practice behind every brushstroke.
