My process:
I use the potter's wheel to create this cup. I generally make the cup one day and trim the bottom foot the next day I then let it dry completely and then I apply a red slip to the inside and a white slip on the outside. I use a red underglaze combined with the white slip to create a swirling pattern. This gives me a vibrant canvas to paint cherry blossoms on. I've been on a long multi-year journey with this design to get the cherry blossoms perfected. A clear glaze finishes the cup, inside and out and is fired in an electric oxidation kiln.
